- ZeitschriftenartikelKopplungsarchitekturen zur überbetrieblichen Integration von Anwendungssystemen und ihre Realisierung mit SAP R/3(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 44, No. 5, 2002) Schissler, Martin; Mantel, Stephan; Ferstl, Otto K.; Sinz, Elmar J.Business-to-business processes require an inter-company integration of the application systems supporting these business processes. Integration is based on inter-company couplings of application systems, which are specified in coupling architectures. The necessity of coupling of application systems arises from relationships between business tasks which are to be supported by these application systems. Starting with relevant relationships between business tasks, three classes of coupling architectures are identified and illustrated by concrete instances. It is investigated to which extent coupling mechanisms as provided by SAP R/3 are suitable for an implementation of these coupling architectures.
Softwarearchitektur zur Regelung eines Gesamtprozesses, der in einem Standardsimulationssystem (eM-Plant) dargestellt ist, durch ein ERP-System (SAP R/3).AbstractState of the art in enterprises is the control of business processes by enterprise resource planning systems (ERP systems) such as the R/3 system of SAP AG. A typical task in the implementation phase of ERP systems consists in the choice of an appropriate lot sizing procedure and the setup of its parameters. The existing procedures do not deliver the best results for each business process. So, a business specific setup is required. Unfortunately, there is no knowledge of good parameter settings for typical business processes. Therefore, different parameter settings have to be tested out on real business processes over long periods (e. g. over several years). Of course, such an approach fails due to time restrictions. In addition, the literature argues that an automated software process — contrary to a physical process — is often never called in question or further optimized. An alternative offers a simulation of business processes which is controlled by an ERP system. In the laboratory of information science and production logistics (LIP) at the University of Applied Sciences, Regensburg, a pilot implementation of a system for simulating the control of production processes by the SAP R/3-System (SIM-R/3) was developed. SIM-R/3 allows such a simulation over long periods.
- ZeitschriftenartikelSystematisierung des Nutzens von ERP-Systemen in der Fertigungsindustrie(Wirtschaftsinformatik: Vol. 44, No. 2, 2002) Martin, Reiner; Mauterer, Heiko; Gemünden, Hans-GeorgThis paper classifies and explores the benefits of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems using the individual manufacturing facility as the level of analysis. We focused on German companies using SAP R/3. Two successful cases are described in detail. The cases revealed that remarkable benefits have been realized in the following categories: „Process efficiency (business processes)”, „Market efficiency (market and customer orientation)”, „Resource efficiency (productivity and profitability)”, and „Delegation efficiency (gathering of information)”. Data standardization and integration explain many of these benefits. However, the users complain about higher workloads as a result of the complexity and required data structures of these systems. Therefore, they show lower acceptance for the new system.
